Poppy Seed Bread is one of my favorite breads. I like to make it for Christmas breakfast because it is one of my favorites! Sometimes I make it into mini-muffins for fun. This recipe is absolutely delicious. It has the perfect flavor. It doesn’t have the lemon flavor like many recipes, but it has, in my opinion, the perfect flavor. The glaze on the top is perfection. This recipe is so simple to make and will make your house smell wonderful! You won’t need to look for another recipe after you try this one!

Ingredients:

3 c. Flour

2 ½ c. Sugar

1 ½ tsp. Salt

3 Eggs

1 ½ tsp. Baking Powder

1 c. + 2 Tbl. Canola Oil

1 ½ c. Buttermilk

1 Tbl. Poppy Seeds

1 ½ tsp. Vanilla

1 ½ tsp. Butter Flavoring

1 ½ tsp. Almond Flavoring

Glaze

¾ c. Sugar

¼ c. Orange Juice

½ tsp. Vanilla

½ tsp. Almond Flavoring

½ tsp. Butter Flavoring

Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Grease and flour 2 bread pans. If you don’t sprinkle flour at the bottom of the pans, the loaves will stick to the bottom and you will have a hard time getting the bread out in one piece. You could also use parchment paper in the bottom of the pan to help it not stick.

3. ln a large mixing bowl, combine the Flour, Sugar, Salt, Eggs, Baking Powder, Oil, and the Buttermilk. Mix it really well.

4. Add the Poppyseeds, Butter Flavoring, Vanilla, and Almond Flavoring. Mix well.

5. Pour the batter evenly into the bread pans.

6. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour. Poke them with a toothpick to see if they are done in the middle. If the inserted toothpick comes out clean, then it is done. If not, keep baking it for a few more minutes until it comes out clean.

7. Use a knife around the edges of the bread, then remove the loaf from the pan and place it on a cooling rack.

8. Make your glaze by combining the Sugar, Orange Juice, Vanilla, Almond Flavoring, and the Butter Flavoring. Stir it together. The sugar won’t completely dissolve, but it doesn’t matter. Brush your glaze onto your hot poppy seed bread, and it will melt the sugar and turn it into a glaze.

9. Let cool, and serve and enjoy!
