Amish Broccoli Salad
I love this salad! I got this recipe from a dear friend of mine, who was also an adopted grandma to me. We shared several recipes with each other and this is one of my favorites from her. I didn’t change anything because it is perfect just the way it is. You can serve this with anything, but it is especially good for a potluck barbeque. I prefer it to coleslaw. It makes a great summer salad! One recipe makes a huge salad, so feel free to cut the recipe in half. But if you are taking it to a big group this will be perfect!
Preparation:
1. Cut Broccoli and Cauliflower into small bite size pieces and put them in a mixing bowl.
2. Cut 1 lb. Bacon (I like to use thick sliced) in small ¼ inch strips and cook until it is crisp. You can also use Bacon Bites if you want to save on time. When the bacon is cooked, drain it and let it cool.
3. Combine the Broccoli, Cauliflower, Bacon, and the Shredded Cheddar Cheese.
4. In a separate mixing bowl mix the Sour Cream, Mayonnaise, Sugar, and Salt.
5. Mix sauce in with the rest of the salad. You can serve it right away, or you can refrigerate and serve it later. I personally think it tastes a little better after it has been in the fridge for a few hours.
6. Serve and enjoy!!
