This is a variation from the classic Shepherd’s Pie. It is so flavorful and simple to make! My kids all eat this meal quickly and ask for more. It is made with sausage and a flavorful gravy that packs it with flavor. I don’t love traditional Shepherd’s Pie, but I love this!

Ingredients:

1 lb. Ground Original Sausage

3 c. Carrots, sliced

3 ½ c. Hot Water

2 Tbl. Knorr Chicken Bullion

4 Tbl. Cornstarch

4 Tbl. Cold water

12 servings of prepared Instant Mashed Potatoes

2-3 c. Cheddar Cheese, shredded

Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes

Preparation:

1. Peel and slice the Carrots and set aside.

2. Brown the Sausage in a frying pan. I cook it like ground beef. Drain and return the sausage to the pan.

3. Add the Hot Water, Carrots, and Knorr Chicken Bullion (the brand matters). I use this brand because of the flavor. Cover the pan and cook it until the carrots are tender.

4. In a separate bowl, mix Cornstarch and Cold water. Stir it until it is mixed well. Then you will slowly whisk the cornstarch mixture into your sausage and carrots. The meat mixture will thicken and turn into a gravy. Stir until it is the desired thickness.

5. Put the meat mixture into a 9x13 glass baking dish.

6. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

7. Make instant mashed potatoes. Any brand that you like will work. I make enough for 8 servings. Spread the potatoes on top of the sausage gravy. Top with cheddar cheese.

8. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.

9. Enjoy!
