These pumpkin dinner rolls are soft, fluffy, and full of cozy fall flavor. Made with pumpkin puree, they have a beautiful golden color and soft texture perfect for serving alongside soups, stews, and your favorite fall dinners. They’re slightly sweet, buttery, and delicious fresh out of the oven with a little butter spread on top. Whether you’re making them for a weeknight meal, Thanksgiving Dinner, or a special family gathering, these homemade pumpkin dinner rolls are a delicious way to bring a little autumn warmth to the table. Serve them with Cinnamon Butter, and they are perfection!
Preparation:
1. In your Kitchen Aid or your Bosch Mixer, add your Yeast, 1 tsp. Sugar, and lukewarm Water. Your water should be between 68 and 81 degrees Fahrenheit. It feels just warm to the touch. If your water is too hot or too cold, it won’t make your yeast grow. After you add the water, stir the yeast, sugar, and water together and then let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
2. While your yeast is growing, warm up your Milk in the microwave or on the stove. You will want your milk to be warm, but not hot. It should be in the same range as your yeast.
3. When your yeast is proofed, or has doubled in size, add Brown Sugar, Salt, Milk, Melted Butter, Egg, Pumpkin, Pumpkin Pie Spice, and 3 cups of the Flour. Turn your mixer on a medium speed and let it mix for 5 minutes.
4. After it has mixed for 5 minutes, add the remaining Flour. You will want your dough to clump up in a ball. It will not be sticking to the edges of your mixer, but may stick a little in the middle. In a dry climate you will need less flour, in a humid climate you will need more flour. If you don't add enough flour your rolls may be flat after cooking. If you add too much flour your rolls may be hard or dense after cooking.
5. Let your dough knead in your mixer on a low speed for 10 minutes.
6. After your dough is kneaded, then place the dough in a greased bowl under a light (I place it under my microwave light), and cover it with a dish towel. Let it sit and raise for 20-30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
7. Grease a cookie sheet and roll your rolls. I get a ball of dough that is approximately 2-3 inches in diameter.
8. Melt ¼ c. butter and use a pastry brush to brush the butter onto the top of every roll after you have finished rolling them.
9. Place your pan under a light again for 10 minutes, or until the rolls are 50% bigger. I preheat my oven while I am waiting for the rolls to rise on the pan. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
10. Bake the rolls at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
11. Spread more melted butter on the top of the freshly baked rolls.
12. Serve and Enjoy!!
Cinnamon Butter
1. Combine the Butter, Honey, Powdered Sugar, Cinnamon, and the Vanilla in a small mixing bowl.
2. Mix on high for 3-4 minutes till it is light and fluffy.
3. Serve with rolls.
