If you are looking for the perfect sandwich bread, this is it! I grew up eating homemade bread and always really liked it. But it would get dry quickly and made for gross sandwiches after a few days. I have experimented with a few different recipes, but I figured out that if I just used bread flour in my bread it stayed soft and had a much better texture! One simple change in the recipe made a world of difference! I had never used bread flour before now, but I am now a firm believer that it makes better bread! This bread stays soft and fluffy, even if you refrigerate it. I also love to make bread because it is so much healthier for you than eating all the preservatives that they put in other bread. I have made this bread recipe for so many people, and everyone loves it! It is great fresh, with sandwiches, toasted, or made into French Toast. I also love that this recipe makes 4 loaves, because then I don’t have to make it as often. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!
Preparation:
1. In your bread mixing bowl combine the Yeast, 1/3 c. Sugar, and the Lukewarm Water. Stir them together and let it sit to let the yeast proof. Let it get nice and bubbly. If you are unsure about the water temperature, it measures between 105°F and 115°F. You could also think about a baby bottle temperature. Click here for the Bosch Mixer that I use to make bread. I have used this every week for 16 years, and it is still going strong!
2. Add 5 c. Bread Flour and mix it well. Then let it sit for 15 minutes. The yeast will make it rise.
3. Add the Eggs, Salt, Sugar, Powdered Milk, Oil, and the remaining Bread Flour. The dough should not stick to the edges of the mixing bowl, but should be in a ball. Let this mix on a low speed for 10 minutes.
4. Let the dough rise until it doubles.
5. Cut the dough into 4 equal pieces. Form the dough into loaves and place them into greased bread pans. Place them in a warm place and cover them with a dish cloth. Let the dough rise until it looks like a loaf of bread.
6. Preheat the oven to 350°. Bake the bread for 27 minutes.
7. Remove the bread from the oven, and from the bread pans. Butter the top of each loaf.
8. Serve and enjoy!
