The thing that my family looks forward to the most when we go out to eat at Texas Roadhouse is the rolls and the butter! My husband will mostly fill up on those and then take his meal home to eat later. I decided that I should figure out my own recipe so that we could have them whenever we wanted for a fraction of the price. Let me tell you, these rolls are just as good as the originals! My husband couldn’t tell the difference. He was so excited! This recipe is simple. You can make them to enjoy yourself, or to impress company coming for dinner. Either way, they will disappear fast! I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!

Ingredients:

2 Tbl. Yeast

1 tsp. Sugar

2/3 c. Warm Water

2 c. Warm Milk

½ c. Melted Butter

1 Egg

2 tsp. Salt

2/3 c. Sugar

6 ½ c. Bread Flour

Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes

Preparation:

1. In a small mixing bowl combine the Yeast, 1 tsp. Sugar, and the Warm Water. The water should be lukewarm, or 105°-115°F. Stir together and let it sit for 5 minutes and let the yeast grow.

2. In a mixer combine the Warm Milk, Melted Butter, Egg, Salt, Sugar, and 3 cups of the Bread Flour. Mix until it is smooth.

3. Add the Yeast mixture and let it mix for 3 minutes.

4. Add the remaining Bread Flour. Let it knead in your mixer for 5 minutes. The dough shouldn’t be sticking to the edges of the mixing bowl, but should be soft to the touch. If you don’t have a bread mixer, then you can do this by hand.

5. Place the dough in a bowl sprayed with Pam Spray and cover with a towel to let it rise till it is doubled. It will raise faster and better if it is in a warm spot.

6. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface. Fold the dough in half and cut it into squares or rectangles.

7. Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet. Spread melted butter over the top. Place a cloth over them and let them rise for 10-15 minutes.

8. Preheat the oven to 400°F. When the rolls have risen, bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

9. Remove from the oven and butter the top with melted butter.

10. Serve and enjoy!
