This is one of my favorite breakfast recipes. I love to make this in the springtime. It is the perfect roll with so much orange flavor to it. These are like a cinnamon roll with orange filling in the middle and orange frosting on top. They are best fresh from the oven but they are good cold or warmed in the microwave. My whole family loves it when I make Orange Rolls and they don’t last long. If they are covered, they will stay fresh for 4-5 days. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!

Ingredients:

Dough

2 c. Milk, heated

¾ c. Salted Butter

½ c. Sugar

1 Tbl. Salt

1 Tbl. Baking Powder

2 Tbl. Active Dry Yeast

1 tsp. Sugar

1/3 c. Warm Water

2 Eggs

6-7 c. Flour

Filling

1 c. Butter

1 c. Sugar

4 Tbl. Orange Peel

2 Tbl. Orange Juice

Frosting

½ c. Salted Butter

5 Tbl. Orange Juice

1 Tbl. Orange Peel

3 c. Powdered Sugar

Preparation:

1. Heat the Milk until it is hot, but not boiling.

2. In your Bosch mixer, Kitchen Aid, or other mixing bowl combine the Milk, Butter, Sugar, Salt, Baking Powder, and 3 cups of the Flour. Let it mix on a low speed.

3. While it is mixing in a small bowl mix the Yeast, 1 tsp. Sugar, and the Warm Water. Your water temperature should be between 68°F and 81°F. Let it stand for 5 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.

4. Add the Yeast mixture to the mixer and let it mix on a medium-low speed for 3-4 minutes.

5. Add the Eggs and mix them completely.

6. Add the remaining Flour. The dough should still be a little sticky. Mix the dough on a medium-low speed for 10 minutes.

7. Place the dough under a dish cloth and place it in a warm place to rise. I let it sit under the microwave light. Let it sit until it has doubled in size…usually around 30 minutes.

8. While the dough is rising make the filling. Use a cheese grater to grate the rind off 2 Oranges.

9. In a medium-sized bowl mix the Butter, Sugar, Orange Peel, and the 2 Tbl. Orange Juice. Mix it well.

10. Roll the dough out on a floured surface until it is large and oval-shaped. I like it to be about ¼ inch thick. Spread the filling out evenly over the entire surface of the dough.

11. Roll the dough up into a long roll and use a string to cut off the rolls about 1-1 ½ inches thick. Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet.

12. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

13. Let the Orange Rolls rest for about 10 minutes. Then bake them for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

14. Make the Frosting while the rolls are baking. In a medium-sized mixing bowl combine the Butter, Orange Juice, Orange Peel, and the Powdered Sugar. Mix it well.

15. Frost the Orange rolls while they are still warm.

16. Serve and enjoy!
