I have been in search of the perfect chocolate cake recipe for a long time. I like how light and fluffy a boxed cake mix is, but I don’t always love the flavor of it. I like a good, homemade cake. It has taken a few tries, but this cake recipe is exactly what I was looking for! It is light, fluffy and moist. It has as delicious fudgy flavor that no cake mix can match. This recipe is almost as simple as making it from a box. It is a recipe where you add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix it up all at once. There aren’t tons of steps! So, if you are looking for that perfect chocolate cake, then your search is over. This is the best one I have ever tried! I hope that you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Ingredients:

Chocolate Cake

2 c. Sugar

1 ¾ c. Flour

¾ c. Cocoa

1 ½ tsp. Baking Powder

1 ½ tsp. Baking Soda

1 tsp. Salt

2 Eggs

2 c. Milk

½ c. Oil

2 tsp. Vanilla

Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes

Chocolate Frosting

½ c. Salted Butter

2 tsp. Vanilla

¼-1/3 c. Milk

½ c. Cocoa

3-4 c. Powdered Sugar

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. In a mixing bowl add the Flour, Sugar, Cocoa, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Salt, Eggs, Milk, Oil, and the Vanilla. Mix it up well.

3. Pour the batter into 2 greased and floured round cake pans. I also like to line my cake pans with Parchment Paper so that they come out easily. Grease the parchment paper and sprinkle it with a thin layer of flour.  See the picture for an example.

4. Bake the cake 30-35 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Remove from the oven.

5. Remove the cakes from the pans and place them on a cooling rack. Allow them to cool completely before frosting them.

6. Make the Frosting. In a medium-sized mixing bowl add the Butter, Vanilla, Milk, Cocoa, and the Powdered Sugar. Mix them well to combine.

9. Frost the cake.

10. Serve and enjoy!
