This dessert is a chocoholic’s paradise! If you are craving chocolate, then look no further. This will satisfy your craving perfectly. I have eaten this for years. My family loved to cook it in the Dutch Oven when we went camping. While I love it in the Dutch Oven, they are way too much work. If you love to cook that way, then by all means, please do. But it is also simple to make in the oven and I think it is just as good. This cake has triple chocolate. It is a chocolate cake with a gooey dark chocolate layer on the bottom and topped with chocolate chips. You can use any flavor of Chocolate Chips you like, but I prefer Semi-sweet. You will need to eat this with Vanilla Ice Cream or Whipped Cream. It is too chocolatey without it, even for me who can’t have too much chocolate. I hope you love this amazing dessert as much as we do!

Ingredients:

1 Chocolate Cake Mix mixed according to package directions

¾ c. Cocoa

½ c. Brown Sugar

1 c. Water

1 package Chocolate Chips

Bake at 350° for 23 minutes, then an additional 5 minutes

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. Mix up a chocolate cake mix according to package directions. Pour it into a 9x13 glass baking dish. Click here for the glass baking dish that I use and love!

3. In a small mixing bowl combine the Cocoa, Brown Sugar, and the Water. Mix it until the cocoa is mixed in well. Pour it over the cake batter evenly.

4. Bake the cake for 23 minutes. Don’t overbake. When you open the oven, it will still be a little gooey. See the picture for an example.

5. Pour the Chocolate Chips evenly over the cake. Place it in the oven for another 5 minutes.

6. Remove from the oven.

7. Serve with Cool Whip or Ice Cream. Enjoy!

Alterations

  • You can use any flavor of Chocolate Chips to make this cake what you like. I prefer semi-sweet, but you can use mint, peanut butter, or even white chocolate.
