This is such a refreshing and delicious dessert recipe! I absolutely love Strawberry Shortcake! I usually just make an angel food cake and eat it with strawberries and whipped cream, but I wanted to try a new twist on an already delicious dessert and add cream cheese. The result was so good! I seriously could have eaten the whole cake by myself. I also love how easy this dessert was to make. This would be a great potluck dessert, or just a crowd pleaser. You could make this for any holiday. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!
Preparation:
1. Make an Angel Food Cake boxed mix according to package directions. Instead of pouring the batter into a tube pan, pour it into a 9x13 glass baking dish. Bake at 325°F for 30 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
2. Mix the Cream Cheese, Cool Whip, and the Powdered Sugar in a medium-sized mixing bowl until it is smooth and creamy. Then spread it over the cooled cake.
3. Make a package of Strawberry Danish Dessert according to package directions for a glaze. Let it cool, and then add Sliced Strawberries. Stir it together and spread it over the top of the Cream Cheese layer. Refrigerate.
4. Serve and enjoy!
