This is a kid friendly meal that is simple to make and better than frozen corn dogs. My kids always are excited when I make these for dinner. I don’t make them too often because they are deep fried and not the healthiest food, but once in awhile we enjoy them. The batter takes minutes to make and is delicious. If you have extra batter, you can deep fry it into corn cakes, or even hush puppies. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!

Ingredients:

2 c. Flour

1 c. Cornmeal

¼ c. Sugar

½ tsp. Salt

3 tsp. Baking Powder

2 Eggs

¼ c. Oil

1 c. Milk

12 Hot Dogs

Oil for frying

Preparation:

1. Heat the Oil. You can make this in a deep fryer or in an electric skillet, or even a pan on the stove. I heat my oil to 350°. Click here for the electric skillet that I like to use.

2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl combine the Flour, Cornmeal, Sugar, Baking Powder, Salt, Eggs, Oil, and the Milk. Mix it together well.

3. Pat the Hot Dogs dry with a paper towel. Then poke the stick most of the way through the hot dog.

4. Pour the batter into a tall cup. It is easier to dip the hot dog and get it covered. Dip each hot dog in the batter, making sure it is completely coated everywhere.

5. Place the corndog in the hot oil. Cook it until it is golden brown on both sides. You will need to flip it over half way through cooking it.

6. Remove the corndog from the oil and place on a paper towel.

7. Serve and enjoy!
