This is the most delicious apple pie recipe! I grew up hating any kind of cooked apples and would not try apple pie for years. I didn’t know what I was missing out on. I have had many different kinds of apple pie over the years, but this is my favorite recipe. It is simple to make and only takes a handful of ingredients. If you want to make someone happy, then try this recipe for them! They will love it! I like it best while it is still warm with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. But it is delicious cold as well!

Ingredients:

1 recipe of Pie Crust

12-15 Apples

½ c. Salted Butter

1 c. Sugar

2-3 Tbl. Cornstarch

3 tsp. Cinnamon

½ tsp. Nutmeg

Bake at 400°F for 20-30 minutes

Preparation:

1. Make the pie crust. If you would like to use my homemade pie crust recipe, click here. You can also use an uncooked pie crust from the store.

2. Peel, core and slice the apples. I like to use an apple peeler because it is so much quicker and easier, but you can do it by hand as well.

3. In a large frying pan, or another large pan, melt the Butter. Add the apple slices and sauté them for 7-10 minutes, or until the apples begin to wilt and release some of their juices. See the picture for an example.

4. Add the Cornstarch, Sugar, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg. Stir it until the butter starts to thicken.

5. Pour the apple pie filling in the unbaked pie shell.

6. Preheat the oven to 400°. Use the remaining pie crust to put a crust on the pie. You can cut it in strips and do a weave on the top of the pie, or you can put the whole crust on the top and make some pretty designs on the top. If you want to do a weave, see the picture to see how. Cut the extra pie crust off the edge of the pie, but leave about a ¼ inch lip to fold under. Fold the edge under, and then crimp the edge of the pie crust.

7. Bake at 400°F for 20-30 minutes, or until it is lightly golden brown.

8. Serve and enjoy!
