Green Beans with Bacon

This is a delicious and simple way to cook Green Beans. They are “sweet and sour”, but it is just a hint of flavor. I like to make this as a side dish when I have company coming and I want it to be a little nicer. I hope that you love these as much as I do!


2.5 lbs. French Green Beans

6 Slices of Bacon, crumbled

2 Tbl. Butter

4 Green Onions

¼ c. Chopped Pecans

6 Tbl. White Vinegar

1 ½ Tbl. Sugar

Salt and Pepper to taste


1. Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil. Place the green beans in the boiling water and boil them for 3 minutes. Remove them from the water and set them aside.

2. Cook the Bacon until it is crisp and then crumble it. You can also use Bacon Bites if you want to omit this step.

3. Chop the Green Onions. Saute the Green Onions in the Butter for 2 minutes. Add the Chopped Pecans and cook for 1 more minute.

4. Add the Vinegar and the Sugar and stir it until the sugar is dissolved. Add the Green Beans to the pan and cover and cook on low for a couple of minutes until they are heated through.

5. Remove the Beans and sprinkle them with the Bacon.

6. Serve and enjoy!
